Birks Cinema Back for A second Screening

LISTEN: Fiona MacEwan tells us what we can expect from these upcoming screenings

After the resounding success of their first drive in experience, the Birks Cinema Trust are back with another series of screenings next weekend.

The trust have lined up silver screen classics, with everyone in mind, such as Jaw, Mamma Mia, Local Hero and more many more.

Fiona MacEwan, the trusts community development officer, said: “The first one was certainly such a big success, we fantastic weather which of course we’ll have again, but also people were pleased to go out and do something safely.”

Bookings are taken in advance and Fiona says they’re selling fast ‘so don’t leave it until the last minute’, each ticket costs £20 which covers one whole car of five people.

Cinema goers pull up and find a spot to park up before hand and tune into the films sound through their cars own speakers through their radio.

The weekend starts off with Local Hero on September 9 at 5:30 pm, followed that same night by Bohemian Rhapsody at 8:30 pm.

Saturday kicks off with the fantasy tail of Onward at 11:30 am, Sunshine on Leith picks up where Onwards leaves at 2:30, The Empire Strikes Back commands an audience at 5:30 pm, then Dirty Dancing finishes the night off at 8:30 pm on a romantic note.

The Goonies kicks off Sunday at 11:15 am, then Jaws snaps up 2:15 pm until the Lost Boys makes the screen at 5:15 pm and ends on Mama Mia at 8:30 pm.

Fiona adds that her and the rest of the trust ‘hope to see as many people as possible there’ on the weekend.
