NHS Tayside is extending their drop-in hours across the area this weekend as part of their drive to fully vaccinate Tayside with both first and second jabs.
The Atholl Leisure Centre is running from this Friday (October 29), and into the weekend, until Sunday (October 31).
A spokesperson for NHS Tayside said: “The aim is to get as many people as possible vaccinated as quickly as possible. This will drive infections to the lowest level possible, particularly as a significantly more infectious and faster spreading strain has developed.”
The drop in centre is open for drop in from 11am until 5pm on each day of this weekend.
NHS Tayside is also offering the flu and booster jabs to select people who need the extra support this winter.
A spokesperson for NHS Tayside explained: “The latest batch of blue envelope appointment letters will be delivered this week for those aged 60-69 and over 16s with a health condition.
The online portal for 50-59s, unpaid carers and household contacts of immunosuppressed will open for booking in mid-November.
Remember it must be at least six months after your second COVID jab before you can receive your booster.”
By vaccinating now, the Scottish Government is hoping that local people will be protected over winter and the pressure on the NHS will be kept off from people needing treatment.
NHS Tayside’s added: “Our teams will be delivering more than 600,000 vaccinations between September and December, in community vaccination centres, hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes and patients’ homes. That’s an average of around 40,000 vaccinations per week.”
