Feldy Roo Named Community Hero Group of the Year

Aberfeldy’s own Feldy Roo has been named as the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce’s Star Awards Community Hero of the year.

Sponsored by ACS Aviation and Evalucia Boutique, the team made up of over 140 people is being celebrated for the 50,000 plus free meals delivered during lockdown.

Organiser, Gavin Price said: “A big congratulations to all the team of Feldy Roo who last Friday night won the best community group for the Perthshire Chambers of Commerce Awards, at Crieff Hydro.

“This is a real fitting thing tribute to an amazing team of one hundred and forty volunteers and several local businesses who helped cook pack and deliver over fifty thousand hot meals during the lockdowns to isolating residents in Highland Perthshire.”

The awards included a line of up of some of the biggest players in Perth and Kinross, with local names such as John Swinney all in attendance at the prestigious event held at the Crieff Hydro.

A spokesperson for the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce said: “It was such a remarkable night with so many fantastic people! Congratulations to all the nominees & a massive well done to each of the winners!”

Announcing the award, the winners cited the community spirit which propelled Feldy Roo to its success as the driving force behind their decision in naming Community Hero group of 2021.

Mr Price added: “The incredible community spirit shown by the people of the Aberfeldy district was highlighted as a major factor and in Feldy Roo winning this award. And this is something I think we, should all be proud of in Highland Perthshire. So, well done again to everyone at Feldy Roo.”
