The only hustings for the Conservative Leadership election in Scotland are set to take place in Perth on August 16th.
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss are the two remaining candidates vying to take over from Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.
The BBC hosted the first TV debate between the pair on July 25th whilst the pair’s head-to-head on Talk TV had to be cancelled after presenter Kate McCann fainted.
Pro-independence group All Under One Banner has announced plans to hold a protest outside the event.
In a post on social media they said: “Whoever wins, we lose. Independence is our right to decide. Now is the time to exercise self-determination.
“The Tories have no mandate to rule in Scotland.”
Scottish Conservative party chairman Craig Hoy responded to the plans, saying: “No one objects to legitimate protest, but such indiscriminate pile-ons are typical of the worst kind of blinkered nationalist hatred.”
A venue for the hustings is yet to be announced.
The next prime minister is set to be announced on September 5th after a postal ballot is completed by around 160,000 Tory party members.
