A bakery in Aberfeldy is putting Highland Perthshire on the map with award winning breads.
The Breadalbane Bakery and Pantry is making its mark with high quality white sourdough and multigrain bread.
They’ve been named the best in Scotland for their white sourdough and multigrain low GI bread as part of this year’s Scottish Baker of the Year awards.
It’s the highest achievement they’ve received, says the bakery, a spokesperson explained: “Thank you so much to everyone who has ever supported us, and purchased from us! It really means the world!
“Our Nanna would have been so proud of us for this, and we dedicate these wins to her! Also, a big thank you to our staff who really keep us going!”
The Aberfeldy bakery faced steep competition this year, with 57 different bakeries entering the awards. Nearing 500 different products entering alongside the bakeries.
Each of the products also passed through rigorous judging, with 55 industry experts weighing up the entries.

Organiser Alasdair Smith said: “I have been amazed at the resilience and creativity of all of our members over the last 2 years and I am keen to see how they have used the time not just to creatively meet the needs of their communities with fresh products daily but also to develop new and exciting products as well as perfecting the classics with new twists.
“Bakers in Scotland truly are the hidden gem of our economy and of our culture and we are delighted to give Scottish Bakers the chance to shine and showcase their skills,” he continued “but given world events at the current time, I would like to confirm that, on behalf of its members, we will be making a donation to the Disasters and Emergencies Committee fund.”
Because of family events, the team behind the bakery were unfortunately unable to attend the award ceremony, however, they will be receiving their trophies soon.
A spokesperson for the bakery added: “Now we just have to wait for our awards and trophies to arrive! We will definitely be showing them off!”
