Work to Begin on Dunkeld and Birnam MUGA

Work is set to begin for the construction of the Dunkeld and Birnam MUGA project following the approval of the building warrant and confirmation from contractors DOE Sports that they will start work on the 1st of August.

The MUGA will provide the Hub with an outdoor area capable of supporting, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Tennis and much more. The MUGA being built at Dunkeld and Birnam will be under a lightweight structure to create an ‘indoor’ type feel and make it usable year-round.

Giving the update on the project via the Dunkeld and Birnam Community Council Facebook page the Sports Hub said: “This is obviously a very exciting time for the Hub with this major, and long anticipated, project actually being constructed. We would ask for your understanding during this period if there are disruptions but also look forward to the delivery of a major new facility for the area.”

When DOE arrive on site, they will fence off the relevant areas with clear signage for club members, visitors and members of the public. During the works there will be no public access to the existing car park at the Sports Hub.

To keep everyone safe it is absolutely vital that all members and visitors follow health and safety rules set out by DOE sports while construction work is being carried out.

Alongside work beginning on the MUGA two other projects will start at the same time. Firstly, work will be completed on the new car parking area, which will be housed between the back of the Medical Centre and the burn at the Hub.

Secondly, an electrical upgrade will also be taking place, to increase capacity and robustness of the site. SSE Networks will lay a new cable along two sides of the bowling green to a new electrical box in the week beginning 25th July. With RW Bell installing the new box and connections to the building with a new meter being installed by SSE in early August.
