LISTEN: Alice Maxwell, Aberfeldy and Kinloch Rannoch Medical Centre’s practice manager, explains the flu jab appointments
With flu season fast approaching as winter draws nearer, the Kinloch Rannoch Medical Centre is taking appointments for flu jabs.
There will be no drop in sessions available so it is essential that Highland Perthshire residents book an appointment before attending the medical centre.
The medical centre’s practice manager, Alice Maxwell, said: “Aberfeldy & Kinloch Rannoch Medical Practice are running their flu clinics differently this year. Due to social distancing they will be holding numerous appointment only clinics from October onwards.
“The flu immunisation helps protect the most vulnerable and alleviate pressure on the NHS.”
Now the medical centre is encouraging that people make their appointments in advance, emphasising that those at the greatest risk from catching the flu be sure to set a date in their calendar.
Ms Maxwell added: “If you are over 65 OR over 18 and diabetic, have chronic respiratory disease, heart, liver, kidney or neurological problems, if your immunity is low, if you are the main carer for someone, if you were asked to shield along with those you live with or a social carer please contact Aberfeldy on 01887 820366 or Kinloch Rannoch 01882 632216 to make an appointment, Monday to Friday and if possible in the afternoon.
“Primary school children will be immunised at school and under 18’s in a clinical risk group will be invited and vaccinated by the immunisation team.”
