Aberfeldy’s Drive-in Cinema Opens with Food and Drinks

Local Hero, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Mama Mia are just some of the blockbusters screening out of Wade’s field Aberfeldy.

The Birks Cinema trust returns this weekend with food and drinks for another set of screenings starting with Local Hero and Bohemian Rhapsody tonight.

Community development officer, Fiona MacEwan, said: “We’re kicking off this weekend with Local Hero, followed by Bohemian Rhapsody. They’ll be lots of really exciting food for sale and drinks and popcorn.

“And then on to the great fun with Sunshine on Leith on Saturday, dirty dancing on Saturday night if you fancy coming out to that. Sunday we’re going to have Jaws in the morning and Mamma Mia finishes us off on Sunday afternoon.”

With so many classics to choose from, ‘we’ve been looking at what films have been going down well at drive ins across the world’ says Fiona.

Tickets for each movie cost the same at a flat rate of £20 for one car which allows five people to attend.

This time the trust will have a range of snacks to choose from. Firstly there’s the cinema classics of nachos, hotdogs, popcorn. and soft drinks.

But there’s also some alternative snacks available too, noodle boxes, flatbread with pulled pork or even pulled lamb at the ready.

Tonight’s first screening is Local Hero at 5:30 and Bohemian Rhapsody closes the night after starting at 8:30.

Onward starts Saturday off at 11:30, followed by Sunshine on Leith at 2:30, then Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back at 5:15 to be finished by Dirty Dancing at 8:30.

Sunday starts with the Goonies at 11:15, to be followed by Jaws at 2:15, then The Lost Boys at 5:15 and finishing with Mama Mia at 8:15.
