Perth and Kinross Council have announced changes to bin collections and closures of some public services over the festive period.
The council have announced that there will be changes to domestic waste and recycling collections over the festive period. There will also be changes to when recycling centres, public toilets, Greyfriars Cemetery, and Perth Crematorium will be open.
The rescheduled domestic waste and recycling collections, over the festive period are:
- Collections due on Sunday, 25th of December will now take place on Saturday, 24th of December.
- Collections due on Monday, 26th of December will now take place on Saturday, 24th of December.
- Collections due on Sunday, 1st of January will now take place on Saturday, 31st of December.
- Collections due on Monday, 2nd of January will now take place on Saturday, 31st of December.
People are also being reminded that there will be no scheduled food and garden waste collections after Friday, 23rd of December.
Should Perth and Kinross be hit by severe winter weather, it may not be possible for refuse vehicles to collect everyone’s domestic waste. Should this happen, residents are asked to leave their bins out for a further 48 hours and the council will attempt to return and collect the waste.
If the council is unable to collect the waste, people are advised to put their bins back in the usual place and wait until the next scheduled collection date. If snow and ice prevent refuse lorries from collecting the waste, they will return and try to collect the waste within the next five days of less hazardous weather conditions.
Anyone with excess waste or recycling should use their local recycling centres or recycling points, with bin collections reverting to the normal schedule after Saturday 7th of January.
The last uplift of special collections will be Thursday, 22nd of December, with normal collections resuming on Wednesday, 4th of January.
Recycling centres will be closed on:
- Sunday, 25th of December
- Monday, 26th of December
- Sunday, 1st of January
- Monday, 2nd of January
The recycling centres will otherwise remain open as usual over the festive period.
All public toilets will be closed on:
- Sunday, 25th of December
- Monday, 26th of December
- Sunday, 1st of January
- Monday, 2nd of January
Toilets under the Comfort Scheme may still be open.
Perth Crematorium will close over the festive period on:
- Sunday, 25th of December
- Monday, 26th of December
- Tuesday, 27th of December
- Sunday, 1st of January
- Monday, 2nd of January
- Tuesday, 3rd of January
Greyfriars cemetery will be closed on:
- Sunday, 25th of December
- Monday, 26th of December
- Sunday, 1st of January
- Monday, 2nd of January
- Tuesday, 3rd of January
