This weekend marks 20 years since the community purchased the land at Dun Coillich hill to the East of Schiehallion.
To celebrate, the Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust (HPCLT) is organising a bioblitz which involves looking for and recording the variety of wildlife and plants which can be found on the hill.
The event is set to take place this Saturday from 10am-2pm and will be followed by a family BBQ from 2pm-5pm.
HPCLT’s project officer Heather Hamilton said: “It’s basically a case of us trying to find out how many species we can identify in one day.
“We’ve got various other things happening including some birdbox building workshops, some forest skills classes and then a scavenger hunt and pond dipping stuff for kids.”
Although the event is not ticketed, Hamilton said it would be good if they could have an idea of numbers before Saturday.
The bioblitz is also looking for volunteers to help at the event.
Hamilton added: “What we’re basically looking for is anyone with any ID skills about plant or fungi or insects.
“Anything they’d like to share would be very much appreciated.”
A monthly volunteer day is also taking place on Sunday where there will be some bracken clearing along some of the paths.
Hamilton said: “We’ll probably take it easy and eat lots of leftover cake.”
