Heartland FM Nominated for Station of the Year at Community Radio Awards

Pitlochry based community radio station Heartland FM have been nominated for Station of the Year at the 2022 Community Radio Awards.

Last year Heartland picked up Silver in the Station of the Year category and will find out the result of this year’s awards on the 19th of November.

Chairman Graham Huggins shared his reaction to the news saying: “I have seen the growth of Heartland FM over the last few years since I have been involved, and I have seen the commitment of the team in producing excellent content. For me it goes further than that. It is fundamental that Heartland FM is part of the local community, and the community feels part of it.”

Station Manager Alistair Smith added: “We are delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK. We are the only Scottish radio station to be nominated in the Station of the Year category. Last year, we picked up the silver award in the category. This year, we’re going for gold.

“Being shortlisted is a great honour, and I have the whole team to thank, as this is very much a team effort. Our volunteers spend many hours preparing and presenting programmes to bring the best radio to Highland Perthshire.

“We have invested our time in news to ensure we report on the stories that matter to our community, and we have developed our multimedia approach using radio, web, social media and our digital magazine. I am very proud of the quality of output we provideacross our platforms.”
