The Atholl Highlanders Parade is set to take place in Blair Atholl this Saturday before the summer’s first Highland Games on Sunday.
The parade will mark the retirement of long serving pipe major Ian Duncan and drum major Alister Walker.
They have each served for over 50 years in the private regiment and will be succeeded by brothers Gary and Niall West who were both born and brought up in Pitlochry.
Atholl Estates CEO Andrew Bruce Wooton said: “Having the games back is really exciting and it’s a weekend that everyone at Blair Castle is very proud of.
“The whole weekend promises to be a fantastic celebration of local heritage and traditions.
“It’s an important event for Blair Castle but also for the community of Blair Atholl and for the whole of the Highland Perthshire area.”
Although not a competing band, the Atholl Highlanders play regularly at Blair Castle.
The parade is set to begin at 2:30 pm on Saturday and advanced booking is recommended with tickets available here.
Mr Wooton added: “On the Sunday, it’ll be lots of fun at the Atholl Gathering. There will be family races, tug of war and Highland dancing.
“It’s a great day out for the whole family.”
