Highland Perthshire business Thyme Deli & Bistro at Errichel has been crowned Scotland’s top ‘Food Tourism’ destination at the national VisitScotland Scottish Thistle Awards, adding to the regional win at the end of last year.
The family-owned hill farm, situated above Aberfeldy has seen huge change over the last two years with the opening of its deli, the change to bistro style dinning and the launch last year of its farm tours.
Speaking on the win Becky Newman from Thyme Deli & Bistro said: “Winning the Thistle awards was just mind blowing. We’re still sitting on cloud nine, to be honest, it means a huge amount to us and our family and our team here, we’ve been working for years to share our passion for great Scottish food and drink and it’s just a really, really brilliant bit of recognition for everything that we’ve done so far, but it also gives us a huge amount of motivation to keep finding new fun ways to share great food and drink with everybody.
Whether they’re coming out on the farm, on a farm tour or if they’re coming on a food tasting, or just simply enjoying the bistro and the views that we are able to enjoy from where we sit.
“Like I said, we just can’t quite believe it, we’re still pinching ourselves, and we’re absolutely thrilled.
The judges commended Thyme Deli & Bistro at Errichel for their hyper local and top quality produce and praised their ‘Feldy Roo’ initiative to feed the elderly and vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fellow Perthshire business Comrie Croft joined Thyme Deli & Bistro in picking up a national Thistle award with VisitScotland Destination Development Director Caroline Warburton congratulated the two Perthshire businesses saying: “Congratulations to Comrie Croft and Thyme Deli & Bistro at Errichel Farm on receiving their National Scottish Thistle Awards.
“It is a fantastic achievement to earn recognition as one of the best in the country, shining a spotlight on the region and helping to support the ongoing recovery of our valuable tourism industry.
“The Scottish Thistle Awards celebrate innovation, collaboration and sustainable practices as we work towards delivering the ambition of the national tourism strategy Outlook 2030, for Scotland to be a world leader in 21st century tourism.”
