A Blair Atholl butcher’s pork and apple sausage has picked up an award for ‘most innovative’ sausage at the meat industry’s toughest and most high-profile product evaluations.
The Smithfield Star Awards presented the butcher with the top prize in the ‘Innovative Sausage’ category.
The entries were evaluated using a 1-, 2- and 3-star rating system with House of Bruar receiving top marks to secure the Diamond Award.
House of Bruar’s Robert Thain said: “As a business which really cares about what it does, we’re delighted to have won the Diamond Award and it’s truly special to receive recognition from an esteemed panel of judges.
“Sausages are one of our best sellers – pork and apple is a combination that works beautifully and we’re very proud of the care and attention that goes into making each and every one.”
The awards were a huge success for the Butchers who also received three star status – the highest possible rating – for their traditional breakfast sausage, gluten-free Lincolnshire sausage, steak pie and steak & kidney pie.
