A slice of festive cheer will be coming to the Pitlochry Town Hall this Friday and Saturday, the 9th and 10th of December, as a programme of talent from across the community come together to put on a Christmas Concert to raise funds for the Town Hall Group.
The two days of entertainment will showcase and celebrate the creative talent on offer in Highland Perthshire, with performers from every age group.
Morag Uytman one of the organisers explains how the concert came to be: “We decided to have the concert, because we thought post COVID It was time to get the community together and do more, and we knew that there were loads of talents within the community and we were also worried about the use of the town hall.
“So, together with these two things, we looked around and asked people, including people who are, you know, multitalented and also the kids, etc, and just thought, what can we do to bring joy over Christmas to the community and so that was the beginning.”
Local Musician Tom McEwan will be performing at the concert and told us what can be expected from the concert: “It’s going to be pretty fast moving. So, we’re all working on eight to 10 minutes per slot, and we’re going to have two stages operating. So on the main stage, we’ll have things like children’s dancers, the brownies and rainbows doing campfire songs, the scouts doing sketches, and then on the side stage, myself, Andy Wright, Drew Scott, and various other people will be doing songs in between the stuff that’s on the main stage.”
“We’ve got two shows, we’ve got the Friday evening, which has got a very full programme and then the Saturday, we’ve got more of that kind of community singsong feel going on and we’re will maybe go in amongst the audience.”
The show will get underway at 7:30pm on Friday 9th of December with the first half featuring Annabelle Charlton on pipes, the Brownies and Rainbows singing Campfire Songs, pianist Frederick Wood, the children’s dance troupe JDS, singer-guitarist Andy Wright, and finishes up with a festive medley from TG McEwan and friends from local choirs.
After the interval, the show continues with the renowned Dunkeld & District Strathspey and Reel Society, a series of sketches from the local Scouts, Piano and Violin from Muriel Zobel and Pete Clark, the local Youth Dance Group, before the Scott Trio wrap up the evening, leading to a grand finale combining the talents of the evening.
The show on Saturday 10th of December will begin at 2pm with the first half featuring piper Annabelle Charlton, the Brownies, JDS Andy Wright and the Choir Singers. The second half will feature TG McEwan, singer and guitarist Liam Manion as well as the Scouts, Youth Dancers, the Scott Trio and another grand finale.
Refreshments and a raffle will also be taking place. Tickets are £6 (£3 for under-16) and on sale in Pitlochry from Coorie In The Corner (Bonnethill Rd) and The Paper Shop (Atholl Road).
