Man Embarking on Life-Saving Challenge Arrives in Perth and Kinross

A Surrey man has set out on a mammoth ten-week charity challenge and will be passing through Perth and Kinross between the 21st and 25th of June.

David Sullivan and his son Freddie set out from John O’Groats on June 11th to complete The World’s Longest Golf Hole challenge and will be walking over 1,000 miles and making an estimated quarter of a million golf shots, before finally reaching Land’s End.

David is taking on this unusual challenge to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation, and the money raised will help place life-saving defibrillators into villages, towns, and cities up and down the country.

At each one of his stops along the way, David will be training local people for free on how to save lives using CPR.

David is passionate for everyone to know how to do CPR and is keen to teach as many people as he can after, having to give CPR to a man for 17 minutes until he could be treated with a defibrillator.

David explained that “When something like that happens right in front of you, it makes you realise how precious life is and how important it is to know what to do in that kind of emergency. It was an experience which profoundly affected me, and now it’s my mission to create an army of life savers all over the country.”

He hopes that his charity challenge will raise a target of £60,000 and will help teach as many people as possible the life-saving skills of CPR and ensure that as many locations up and down the UK are equipped with defibrillators.

David has been sponsored by American Golf along his journey and the CEO Gary Favell said, “When we heard about the incredible challenge David had set himself, we immediately wanted to lend American Golf’s support.  David has found a way to harness his golfing prowess not only to highlight the importance of knowing CPR through his own personal experience, but to train people along his journey whilst raising funds for the British Heart Foundation – he is a true inspiration.”
