LISTEN: Kevin and Lauren give their reaction to the town reopening
Local favourite, Escape Route Cycle Shop & Café proudly opened its doors on Monday as lockdown restrictions were eased nationwide, welcoming back customers and friends.
The cycle shop and café have remained open during lockdown however decreased footfall in Pitlochry due to social distancing kept many locals from visiting.
Kevin from Escape Route said:
“There has been increased footfall this morning. The phone has not stopped all day, so I think we’re heading in the right direction, slowly but surely.
“In terms of moving forward and hopefully getting back to normal, we’re seeing an increased number of people using bikes from day to day – as a hobby, as recreational use – I think it’s going to continue.
“I’m quite optimistic that we will be pretty busy going forward through the summer and into the autumn hopefully – It’s been a long winter.”
Escape Route is one of many businesses in Pitlochry happy to once again open its doors, welcoming friends old and new.
With the hustle and bustle of happy customers in the café, Lauren from Escape Route said:
“We’ve had a really busy morning today and it’s really nice to see all the families again and all the regulars – seeing how the kids have grown up and all our usual dogs – lots of happy customers!”
