LISTEN: John Duff explains what the new signs will be able to do.
Perth and Kinross Council are installing real time bus timetables across Highland Perthshire that will give up to date information for people in the towns.
Aberfeldy and Pitlochry are next to receive the electronic signs which will give live updates on when busses are expected to arrive and other information such as community notices.
Highland Ward Councillor, John Duff, explained: “We are in the process of installing real-time passenger information displays at two key bus shelters in Highland Perthshire.
“One in Atholl road, Pitlochry, next to the memorial garden and the other in Chapel Street, Aberfeldy.”
Elaborating on the function of the information boards, Mr Duff said: “These devices will display the timetable for the bus stop, the details of the actual calculated arrival time of the busses.
“They can also be used to display things like public notices or advertising or deliver messages, for instance on safe public transport information. And I hope that passengers will find them useful.”
Looking towards the opportunity that the new signs will offer, Councillor Mike Williamson said: “This is a great addition to the community, if we can get better access to public transport we can connection with the wider area.”
