ScotRail has announced that it will be operating under a different timetable during some of the festive season.
Essential works on the line will see the typical timetable change from December 27 through to December 31.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: “ScotRail train times will be different from the normal timetable over Christmas and New Year, so customers are being urged to plan ahead.
“As in previous years, no trains will run on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day, except for a reduced service in the Strathclyde region, on Boxing Day.”
This update is important for travellers planning on moving across the country by train on the 27th.
While travel has been restricted for a lot of this year, especially since Perth and Kinross moved into level 3 restrictions, Scots are only allowed to move between any part of the UK from December 23 to 27.
With December 27 being an important day for travel within the country, it is important for passengers to check their tickets against their travel plans.
David Simpson, ScotRail Operations Director, said: “We know this will be a festive period like no other we’ve ever experienced, but we would like to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas, and hope they have a safe and healthy time with family.
“ScotRail is doing everything it can to make sure people can travel safely over Christmas and we will take additional measures where needed. We continue to urge all customers to check public health guidance before travelling to ensure they are complying with the current travel regulations.
“If you are travelling over Christmas and New Year, plan your journey in advance using the Latest News page on the ScotRail website, as train times may be different.”
