Scottish Fire and Rescue Home Saftey Visits

Residents of Highland Perthshire are now able to contact the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for a home safety visit.

The service would help residents spot possible fire hazards, arrange a fire escape plan and provide information about smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms.

New legislation in Scotland means that all homes are now required to have interlinked smoke and heat detection.

Scotland is the first UK nation to require these measures in every home.

Every property must now have:

  • One smoke alarm in the room which is most frequently used
  • One smoke alarm in every space on each storey such as hallways
  • A heat alarm in each kitchen

Anyone wanting to book a home safety visit can do so by calling 0800 0731 999, texting ‘FIRE’ to 80800 or by visiting firescotland.gov.uk.
