Sell-out Crowd For First Ladies Day Post Pandemic

Ladies Day at Perth Racecourse is returning to the grounds this year after the event moved online during the pandemic.

This is an opportunity for the women of Perth, Highland Perthshire and beyond to dress up and show off their style.

The Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day at Perth Racecourse is running five fashion categories, which includes: ‘Style of Perthshire’, ‘Perthshire Panache’, ‘Best Sockless Outfit’, ‘Best Hooves’ (shoes) and ‘Best Group Shot’.

Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse CEO, said: “We are very much in final preparations stage as we prepare for our first Ladies Day in three years, which will also be our biggest crowd since 2019.

“Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day is a truly unique social event bursting with colour, glamour, laughter and excitement and we look forward to seeing our capacity crowd dressed up to the nines as they compete for these fun fashion prizes.”

‘Best Sockless Outfit’ is a new category for the ladies to compete in this year, following a trend of young men donning full suits accompanied by smart shoes without socks.

The trend is being met with a ‘marmite’ reception, with some people loving or hating the new look. Now, this year’s competition is a chance for women to vindicate the style.

The winner of ‘Best Sockless Outfit’ will walk away with a special hamper including natty horse racing themed socks.

Already tickets have sold out for the event on Thursday, the 12th of March, proving the popularity of outdoor events coming back out of COVID restrictions.

A spokesperson for the Perth Racecourse added: “The one-day festival of fashion will see racegoers entertained by a live set from DJ and saxophonist duo Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago after racing. Stuart Webster, radio presenter on the Greatest Hits Network across Scotland, will host proceedings on the main stage while Edward Reid of Britain’s Got Talent fame will entertain VIP guests throughout the afternoon. “

During the event Perth Racecourse expect to break £100,000 in funds raised for partner charity Breast Cancer Now.
