Strike Action to Affect ScotRail Services This Saturday

Industrial action by ScotRail general grade members who are part of the RMT union on Saturday 29th of October is set to cause widespread disruption to the rail network.

A large proportion of ScotRail staff are members of RMT including roles such as conductors, ticker examiners, hospitality, station staff, engineering depot staff and CCTV operators.

The action which is part of a dispute over pay will last for 24 hours and as a result of the action a very limited number of services will be running, with no ScotRail trains north of the Central Belt.

From 7:30am until 6:30pm Scotrail will be running the following services:

  • Milngavie to Edinburgh via Glasgow Queen Street Low Level – Two trains per hour
  • Glasgow to Lanark – One train per hour
  • Glasgow to Larkhall – One train per hour

ScotRail have said they are only able to provide this very limited service due to the number of contingency staff required to cover the shifts of those on strike.

ScotRail are advising anyone who needs to travel on their service to only do so if essential and alternative options should be considered where possible.

Train times will be updated on the Online Journey Planner and app, with the Traveline Scotland Journey Planner able to provide information on alternative forms of public transport.
