Marine Engineers Make a Barmy Boat out of a Skip

Two marine engineers have fitted a 125kg skip with an outboard motor and taken it successfully out on to the River Medway in Kent.

After a successfully test launch Jake Harris and Sam Newstead now have their sights set on crossing the English Channel in their barmy boat.

After plugging the skips drainage holes the pair strapped a 5hp, two-stroke motor to the back, before lowering the container into the water with a crane.

They have since had to return it to the hire company, but they say they are in talks with a skip manufacturer to make one capable of crossing the English Channel.
