
Champion rider Danny McMenamin enjoyed more success with Wakool at Perth on Wednesday evening. The 3-1 joint favourite ran out winner in the £8,000 Salutation Hotel, Scotland’s Most Historic Hotel Handicap Hurdle.
Wakool saw off Joint favourite, Shaws Bridge to take the victory in the 7:10 race
Winning trainer Nick Alexander said: “I’m pleased he’s won again as we had a couple old close seconds in earlier races tonight. I think the key to him winning was the longer trip and Danny said his stamina kicked in for the closing stages.”
Elsewhere it was a good night for Wise Coco, trained by Charlotte Jones, and ridden by Alistair Whillans, secured third in the Dunkeld House Hotel Mares’ Handicap Hurdles. With Evita Du Mesnil winning ahead of second placed Cancan.
Fortunes Hiding, was a non runner in the 7:40 Bruce Farms “Grass Roots” Hunters’ Chase.
It was also a good night for Rose Dobbin as the Northumberland trainer completed a double with Slanelough and Hitman Fred.
Slanelough won the 5:40 Ballathie House Hotel Novices’ Handicap Chase, While Hitman Fred ran out winner in the 6:40 Holiday Inn Express Staycation Handicap Chase.
