A new exciting project aiming to improve sustainable transport options and offer better lifetstyle opportunities for everyone.
Heartland Media Hub is supporting the sustainable transport project with Paths for All. This project is aimed at making people more aware and acceptive of greener options while going about their daily lives. Over the coming months we will be speaking to many residents of Highland Perthshire and experts to raise issues and explore possible solutions.
Here we have Paths for All explaining who they are and some of their aims and objective.
Through its Smarter Choices, Smarter Places programme, Scottish charity Paths for All supports public and third sector organisations adopt sustainable travel solutions.
The programme runs because, in Scotland, transport is the biggest contributor to the gases that cause climate change. Walking and cycling, including getting to and from the bus stop or train station, has positive health impacts. There is growing evidence that car pollution increases the likelihood of some cancers, heart disease and dementia. In some parts of Scotland, GPs are recognising the value of exercise in improving health by prescribing walking and cycling rather than medication.
